NSW CENTRAL COASTS BRAD LAWRENCE CLAIMS TITLE OF AUSTRALIAS BEST TRADIE The Central Coasts Brad Lawrence has knocked three of Australias top tradies off their perch, taking out the inaugural KingGee Jack of all Trades crown. With the competition broadcast on Channel 9, the eight finalist tradies also became unlikely TV stars as viewers watched them over eight episodes fight for the ultimate bragging right, the best tradie in the country. Living up to his nickname, Laser Level Lawrence, the Wamberal builders skill, precision, consistency and sheer spirit saw him overcome the strong competition to win the title. Brad said that he remained positive throughout the entire competition, never losing sight of the crown. “I never underestimated the other competitors as they are all very good tradesmen. But I knew I had the ability to give them a really good run for their money and Im stoked that I came out on top.” “I knew I was up there and thats where I wanted to stay.” A tight competition to the very end, the final became a battle between Lawrence and Melbournes Peter Drofenik, with the lead bouncing between the two throughout the competition right until the last challenge. “I didnt watch anyone else during the competition watching or worrying about the other guys only slows you up. I wanted to go out hard and let the other guys watch out and worry about me.” It was a nail biting finish as Drofenik lead the competition as they entered the final challenge of Deconstruction, where they had to dismantle the entire construction they had spent hours and hours building. “You have to be incredibly physically fit to handle a deconstruction job. Youre not only faced with the sheer hard work of ripping down the entire construction but you are also racing against the clock and fellow competitors, while pushing through a massive pain barrier.” Brads fitness, speed and determination certainly came into play in the Deconstruction challenge, giving him the edge to win the round. Importantly it enabled him to win the competition by just eight points over Peter, awarding him the ultimate bragging rights, as Australias best all round Tradie. “How awesome does that sound? Its great title to have. And I tell you what, I cant wait to talk it up to my mates,” said Brad As the winner of the search for the countrys best tradie, Brad takes home $100,000 in prizes including a fully optioned SsangYong Musso Sports 4WD as well as the ultimate title, the inaugural KingGee Jack of All Trades. “The prizes are unreal. I will have so much fun playing around with all the gear, Its perfect timing as we are renovating our house. But on the other hand I can sit back with the crown in my hand and say to all the other tradies, I am the KING,” said a victorious Brad. |
