Media Release December 2008 Jack is back on Channel Nine Australia’s favourite tradie television show, “King Gee Jack of All Trades” returns to Channel Nine this January with an action packed building series, which is sure to spark up a few conversations on the building site this summer. Kicking off at 1:30pm on Sunday January 18, 2009 the television show’s debut is bound to delight Tradies around Australia with the first episode of the series nestled perfectly at lunch during the Australia vs Sth Africa One Day International. After months of scouring the countryside and working their way through thousands of potential “Jacks” the show’s creators have now finalised the start list, narrowing the cut down to just four of the best blokes and builders that Australian television viewers will have met in a very long time. In 2009, the eight part series has been totally revamped and is based around tough building, sporting and lifestyle challenges, including a ruck and maul session with the Queensland Reds, as well as taking on Caterpiller earthmoving equipment, plus we see the boys hit the Queensland Stunt Academy, and do some advanced driver training in the magnificent Holden SV V –Series Ute which one of them will get to take home. The building challenges are focused on completing a newly built home in the Silkwood Mt Cotton Estate, in South East Queensland. Mike Broadby, a Master Builder from Brisbane, will oversee the challenges where nails are hammered, concrete is poured, skylight installed, walls are painted, fences are put up and turf is laid in a test of skills to find Australia’s top all–round tradie. The audience will be also treated to a conflict of personalities with the four contestants having such different natures. Jules McDonald, a landscaper from Victoria is a thinker, the South Australian contingent ‘the Cowboy, Matt Heath and the quick witted wise cracker, Mick Stone and finally there is the city slicker Andre Dietiker a Sydney based tradie who prides himself on a good days work and having a bit of fun. “The beauty of these four blokes is that they are so used to running their own business and now it’s back to basics for the boys. They have stepped back and have had to work as a team, under a master builder,” said Mike Broadby, Master Builder. “It is always easier to climb up the ladder than to step a few rungs down, once you run your own business taking advice or instructions can sometimes be difficult. “These boys have been living together now in one house, away from their friends & families and living on top of each other, which has definitely created some interesting situations on the job site.” Bringing a fresh face to Australian television is Australia’s newest host, Amy Kensett of Sydney who is set to impress and win hearts with her girl next door personality, sense of humour and down to earth attitude. The house at Silkwood Mt Cotton once complete will be auctioned off with a total of $200,000 of the Silkwood Mt Cotton House auction to be donated to Charity with the proceeds going to The Robin Unit at the Mater Hospital in Brisbane and King Gee’s favourite charity, The Cancer Council. The KingGee Jack of all Trades series will air on the following TV times on Channel Nine:
